Adopted from China at the age of 1, Aubrie-Mei’s NYC-raised single mother made sure to introduce her to the magical world of musical theater early.
Aubrie-Mei’s fifth grade production of Peter Pan was one of her first experiences trying her hand on the stage. At the time, she was a pint sized Peter. It was only kismet that Aubrie-Mei would return to the show; this time in the National Tour as Wendy Darling.
Aubrie-Mei’s training started at Reagle Music Theatre in Boston and continued at Wagner College. She majored in theatre performance, while minoring in Holocaust and human rights’ studies.
She moved to NYC directly after graduation and started working in the education department of a museum. Since then, she has consistently worked on tours, regional productions, and all those pesky little survival jobs!
In Aubrie-Mei’s free time, she loves to read, eat great food (especially goat cheese…it’s so fricking good), and spend quality time with her family and friends. She has also recently taken up the art of baking and decorating cakes. It has helped calm her when she starts to stress about the crazy world we live in.
Performing also helps; amplifying stories that are often undertold and hoping just one little Asian girl in the audience is inspired to see someone like her onstage.
